For such a powerful tool, I am fine with the intensive crafting toll, and xp costs for use, but I am hesitant to spend so much iron if it will only terminal a few uses. Exactly how long will it terminal? I would examination it myself, simply I'm at uni now, and the wiki doesn't have that information notwithstanding.

I hope yous tin apply information technology as many times as you wish, the damaged versions puzzle me. I wonder if the damaged anvils are simply damaged considering of falling, or if there is really a kind of durability with it limiting uses. I but desire information technology to be the same with regular crafting where the crafting tabular array does not wearable out, they tin be really costly.

Make an atomic number 26 golem subcontract. Information technology only takes a 24-hour interval or less once you know where a village is. Get stacks of 64 iron everyday.

In 1.4 Zombie Villagers will as well spawn anturally so you tin can cure them, showtime your own Hamlet and go tons of Iron. Even killing manually better than mining.

I've but tested it myself, although I didn't proceed count. It does concluding quite a while though. I combined about 30 low level wooden swords until there was only 2 left and the anvil was still there, though cracked.
Considering the fact that yous will probably not exist using it very often, it should last quite a long time so it should be a adept investment. Why it breaks at all though is beyond me.
I might test once again with a brand new anvil to get a more exact value.
EDIT: I just tried over again and information technology merely lasted 12 repairs... And then twice more and it merely lasted ten repairs both times. Either there is some randomness playing a part here, or possibly how long the anvil lasts depends on much much you spend in it, or both. I must have had some sort of freak anvil the start fourth dimension though...

Thanks. Then that seems like well-nigh 25 repairs of wooden tools with low enchantments, practice college enchentments/better materials damage the anvil more than?

I possibly over-estimated on the first trial, I wasn't really keeping count. But I seemed to go a lot done without the anvil breaking. I seem to be getting about 10-12 uses now.

Thinking nigh it....While in single player the anvil is not expensive. In multi-actor, unless its protected against it. People could grief by over using anvils belonging to other players.

Trying level thirty diamond sword now. I'chiliad already up to thirteen uses and the anvil isn't even cracked withal. information technology's possible that the anvil wears out if it is used also much within a brusk space of time every bit I find that testing loftier level tools takes more than time every bit tin can't e'er combine them considering the toll might exceed the level cap for the anvil (40).
Either that, or at that place is a random chance that information technology will be damaged each time you use information technology, giving it theoretically anywhere between 3 and space uses.
EDIT: Continued with that anvil and got upwardly to 34 uses. Also, I got a level cost that was exactly 40 and couldn't do it so it seems that 40 level repairs cannot be washed.

That'southward probably information technology. Since the anvil tin autumn I don't retrieve it stores any tile entity information for whatever kind of count. Whether it'southward fixed take chances or is affected past other factors remains to exist seen.

That actually makes a lot of sense. How lond exercise you call back it will be before some bright spark opens up the code and finds the exact chance of it being damaged a level?

I personally am not overconcerned with the price of anvils.
Co-ordinate to the wiki, there are 84 iron ore per clamper, and of course, ore generation is increased in caves. In a standard mining trip, I can run out with over 3 stacks of iron for about an hr's work.
If the anvil lasts at least for nearly 12 uses I'd say information technology's a decent investment. Particularly since you don't have to repair your diamond tools that often.

Only thing is, Anvils tin can't be pushed by pistons. Need to remove the block under them instead. If the spot you're at has a articulate view of the sky at that place can't be an anvil trap there. But this:
Is never going to get old.

Twitch or null? It was nice. Isn't annihilation going frontward.

i dont similar how levels compound per repair, it really should be a flatrate, or allow increase initialy, but taper off the more you lot repair
plus, xp = durability? wtf witchcraft is this!
should accept to put the tool cloth in the 2d slot to repair, only enchanted tools should cost xp
as for the original topic, im going on a limb here and guessing the max anvil use has something to do with xp lvls used (i base this theory on nothing :D)

Alright, does anyone know if just renaming, non repairing or combining enchantments amercement the anvil? Renaming is just an aesthetic reward so the xp cost should exist enough.
